Who we are
Capy is a web design and development studio operated by Capy Web Design, a business registered in Ontario, Canada. We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
What we collect
We collect two kinds of information.
- Usage data, if you allow analytics cookies. Pages you visit, how long you stay, how you arrived (for example, a search engine or a link), your approximate location based on IP address, and your device, browser, and screen size. We use this in aggregate to see how the site is used.
- What you send us. If you email us, we receive your name, email address, and whatever you include in your message.
We do not ask for sensitive information, and we do not use the site to build profiles of individual visitors.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to see how the site is used. Analytics cookies stay off until you accept them in the cookie banner. The only cookies set without consent are the ones that remember your choice and keep the site working.
You can change your choice at any time through the cookie widget at the bottom of the screen or your browser settings.
How we use it
We use analytics data, with your consent, to understand and improve the site. We use what you send us to reply and to discuss a project. In Canada this relies on your consent; in the EU and UK, on steps before a contract or our legitimate interest in responding. We keep business records where the law requires it.
We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the providers that run the site and our email: Webflow (hosting), Google Analytics 4 (analytics), Google Workspace (email), and Axeptio (cookie consent). Contracts limit how they can use it.
These providers process data mainly in the United States, where it may be accessible to authorities there. For EU and UK visitors, these transfers rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep analytics data for 14 months, emails that don't lead to a project for 2 years, and client records for 6 years, in line with Canadian business record rules. After that, we delete or anonymize it.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, or delete your information, or withdraw consent, including for analytics cookies. EU and UK residents can also restrict or object to how we use it and request a portable copy. US residents with state privacy rights, such as in California, have similar rights. We don't sell or share personal information as those laws define it, and we won't treat you differently for making a request.
Email info@capywebdesign.com and we'll reply within 30 days, after confirming your identity if needed. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, your EU data protection authority, or the UK Information Commissioner's Office.
Security
We limit access to people who need it and use providers with standard security, including encrypted connections. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we'll notfy you and regulators as required.
